Essay and Writing Skills

October 2021
Essay Writing is an integral part of a student's life from middle school to graduate school. Writing essays develops essential skills and functions in the education of a student, enabling them to practice and perfect skills transferable throughout their learning career and into their profession. They develop the ability to read and write, think, organize ideas, and communicate in an efficient manner. It also helps students to build a formal and organized method of writing that passes information without a doubt while helping them to organize their thoughts on what they’ve learned, building their vocabulary, and helping them to develop a distinctive writing style. The value of learning how to write an essay goes beyond education and into the workforce.  To succeed in the workplace, one needs to possess correct grammar, spelling, basic writing skills, and communication. Thus, essays prepare a person to become a successful individual in the future.

The Blue Revue Mentoring program recognizes the importance of this ability and offers an Essay and Writing Skills workshop to prepare our Blossoms for the remainder of their high school academic life while getting them ready for their college transition.  Each year, the Blossoms are assigned an essay topic relating to the theme of that year’s program and an academic scholarship award is given to the top essay.
